Pregnancy Timeline

So I haven't written much about this pregnancy, but I guess that's typical with #2. Here's a quick rundown of what we've experienced so far in 2011:

  • Jan. 3, 2011: Franklin has febrile seizure at school. We discover this is the onset of RSV, and he's on breathing treatments for the next 4 weeks or so

  • Jan. 10, 2011: Auburn wins national championship! Frank and Catherine win #2! I am sick with remnants of Franklin's viral cold

  • End of January: Positive Test - I am still sick.

  • Feb. 14: First Appointment with Dr. Straughn, we see our little bean. I am still sick. I am also tired, and feel rather barfy at night. Apparently during this pregnancy I am going to have acne like a teenage boy and gross greasy hair.

  • End of February: I am still sick. I beg for drugs. Doc tells me unless I'm running a temp, no drugs for me. I sleep sitting straight up in the air and Frank sleeps on the couch because I cough all night long. 3 bottles of Robitussin later, I'm feeling well enough to make it through the day. But still sick.

  • March 7: First OB appt with Dr. Straughn, 11 weeks. I am still sick. They feel sorry for me and finally give me a Z pack.

  • March 16: I can finally make it through the day breathing normally. Thank you, z-pack.

  • March 21: NT Scan, Week 13. Baby is healthy! Boy guess, not confirmed.

  • April 4: Week 15. Appt with Dr. Straughn. Baby is healthy, heartrate is 160. This week he (yes, I am convinced baby is a boy) is the size of an apple, and is about 4 inches long. We confirm sex of the baby 4/14 around lunch time.

Last time: exhausted, hungry, rapid weight gain, clear skin and thick dry hair. Can sleep for hours on end and nap as necessary. Already making purchases for baby by week 12, including a crib and clothing.

This time: Not as tired as I remember (but I've been tired since October 23, 2009), not as hungry, no distinct cravings, slower weight gain, yucky skin, greasy thin hair. Insomnia. One purchase made -- a "take home" outfit for a baby boy. Relish the thought of having a boy because I won't have to buy anything and will merely have to (hopefully) move the nursery from one house to another.

Oh yes, that's another post. We have outgrown our lovely Homewood house, and are willing to pass it along to another happy family/ student/ resident/ bachelor/ bachelorette/ retired couple/ dog for a reasonable price. Will post details on the listing when we put it on the market (hopefully next week!)

Franklin will welcome a baby.....?

We still don't know. Our NT scan on Monday revealed a rather stubborn little one (wonder where he gets that from) that's perfectly healthy. Our risk of neural tube defects is now down to 1 in 10,000, and we are beyond thrilled that we'll welcome a perfect little one in September. Because of this baby's uncooperativeness, the tech was unconfident in her guess of "boy," so we'll hold off on buying any more blue at the moment. Looks like we'll have to wait until around 15 weeks to find out for sure.

In other news, Franklin's 17 month appointment also went well! He is in the 50th percentile for height and weight (32 inches and around 25 pounds), and his head circumference went down to 60th (recall we were at 95th percentile at one point, so this is good news). He is hearing everything, pointing at the sky when airplanes fly by, and jumping when our dogs bark. Just this morning, in an effort to out maneuver our little genius, Frank put our leather ottoman in front of the television while we were getting ready for work -- to keep Franklin from standing directly in front of the television. What did Franklin do? He climbed on TOP of the ottoman, and stood directly in front of the television. I'm sure he appreciated the boost to get a more eye-level view of the tube. He's a funny little kid, that's for sure. Happy Wednesday!

Pump up the Jam

This little monkey loves, loves jam. Where did my baby go? He looks like such a little man these days... I suppose it's a good thing we'll welcome another little one before we know it.

Help for a Friend

My friend Kelley is currently fundraising to help bring home her second little girl from China... Caroline LiYun will be coming home with them in three months, their second adopted child in 13 months. Kelley's fundraiser is through (Cover)ed, a company that makes adorable hooded towels ($25 each) for children. 50% of the profits from each towel will help Kelley, Scott, Carter and Grace bring home their daughter/sister.... For more information check out Kelley's blog at the link below:
